Delete your Vocalify data
This page explains how to delete your Vocalify account and the data attached to it, published by Vocalify — the developer of the Vocalify app for Android and the web. There are two ways: do it yourself in the app, which takes effect immediately, or ask us by email. You can also ask for part of your data to be deleted rather than all of it — tell us which, and the rest of the account is left alone.
1. Delete it yourself, in the app
Open Settings → Privacy → Delete account (in the Android app or at app.vocalify.me), retype your email address to confirm, and confirm. The deletion happens straight away and cannot be undone.
No account? Then nothing of yours is on our servers at all — Vocalify is local-first, and without signing in your practice never leaves the device. The same screen has Erase data on this device, which clears everything the app has stored in that browser or app: settings, practice history, melodies, backing tracks and takes.
2. Ask us to delete it
Email privacy@vocalify.me from the address the account uses, with the subject “Delete my data”. Writing from the account address is how we know the request is yours; if you cannot, tell us so and we will ask you for something else that shows the account is yours, rather than deleting a stranger’s data on request.
We confirm within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
3. What is deleted
Everything tied to the account, permanently:
- The account itself — your email address, your password hash, and the Google account identifier if you signed in with Google.
- Your settings: vocal range, scoring, instrument, audio latency, language, theme.
- Your practice history — every session, score and statistic derived from it.
- Your melodies, exercise presets and routines, and any backing tracks you uploaded, including separated stems.
- Your voice recordings, deleted from our object storage as well as the database.
- Homework and teacher links, if a teacher had shared exercises with you.
- Your subscription record, reminder preferences and time zone, and every signed-in session, which signs you out everywhere.
Data on your own devices is not reachable from our side. Clear it with Erase data on this device in the app, by clearing site data for app.vocalify.me in your browser, or by uninstalling the Android app.
4. What remains, and for how long
- Encrypted backups — our database is backed up nightly and each backup is kept for 30 days before it is destroyed. A backup taken before your deletion still contains your rows until it ages out; backups are restored only to recover from a failure, never to bring one account back.
- Anonymous usage events — the counters behind “how many people finished a drill today”. They carry no email and no recording, they are no longer linked to you once the account is gone, and they are deleted after 180 days.
- Records we are required to keep — if you ever paid, the transaction record is kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, separately from your practice data.
5. Deleting some things, not all
You do not have to delete the account to remove data from it. Some of it you can remove yourself, in the app: deleting a practice session also deletes its recording from our server; Settings → Privacy → Upload my takes stops new recordings from being uploaded at all; and reminders can be switched off on your account page or through the link at the bottom of any reminder email.
For anything else, write to us and say what should go. Email privacy@vocalify.me from the address the account uses and name the data you want deleted — for example “all my voice recordings”, “my practice history before June”, “the melodies I uploaded”, or “my time zone and reminder settings”. Be as specific as you can; if we are not sure what you mean, we will ask rather than guess, and nothing is deleted until you confirm. The rest of the account stays exactly as it is. The same deadlines apply as for deleting everything: we confirm within 7 days and finish within 30.
